Chairman’s Corner – Poul G. Kristensen

Dear Members and Friends of DCCC Shanghai,

April has been the first month for the new board appointed during the AGM the 21st of March and we started with many new events as well old and traditional ones.

Following the last years “tradition” we held Danish Easter lunch at Mi Thai, enjoying the food from Chef Kasper from Pelikan, as always it was delicious and a good opportunity to get Danish Easter food. We counted with the participation of 41 people and want to thanks our sponsors Dueholm-Wuhan (organic eggs & eggs for painting) and Vikinor (snaps).

Below can you see a detail list of all the events we held in April:
April 9    DUSA/CICC/DCCC Workshop: Business Visa & Work Permit Application
April 17  Culture & Communication – Working Effectively, Focus on Nordic Cultures
April 18  Using AI across the value chain
April 20  Danish Easter Lunch
April 24  Eat well & train well
April 26  Sustainable Workplace – Where Zero Waste, Wellbeing & innovation meet

In connection with the April’s board meeting there were appointed new members for the different committees such as Company Committee, Repatriation Committee and Vision & Strategy Committee. You are welcome to see on our homepage under “About DCCC” – “Board” which committees the different board members are participating on.

Furthermore following DCCC-Shanghai’s new strategy there were also appointed board members to be responsible / contact person for the different groups created under the 3 focus areas.

We are starting with the following groups:

Each group will be linked to the assigned board members and DCCC Shanghai’s GM. The idea is to start running those groups based on the WeChat platform and when they have open events announce them on our homepage.

If you interest in knowing more about the different groups or how to start other groups don’t hesitate to contact Laura Li at laura@dccc-shanghai.com

During the last months some of our members have been participating on the Women Mentor Walks together with Benelux Chamber Shanghai. If you are woman and have interest in participating in the Mentor Walks as Mentor or Mentee contact Laura Li at laura@dccc-shanghai.com or by phone.

Danes Worldwide Corner

Since Danes Worldwide encouraged Danes abroad to share their bank-related difficulties, an overwhelming number of Danish expats have come forth. A grand multitude of cases helped us shedding some light on the root of what seems to be a huge banking challenge an expat might expect when taking the leap to go abroad.

Most often banks demand an overwhelming amount of personal, private information, citing legal regulation as reason. In many cases, communication alone between banks and expats forces Danes abroad to feel criminalized. In other cases, banks choose to cut all investment ties with Danish expats altogether. Some banks started working on remedies shortly after our callout in previous newsletters, our magazine and other media. How these remedies will play out for Danes abroad is yet to be seen.

What is true, banks are showing willingness to find a solution and keep ties to Danes outside Denmark. As an organization for expat Danes, we will now seek a dialogue with banks in an attempt to find fitting solution for all involved, while fully abiding anti-money laundering and anti-terror legislation.

Feel free to share your story with Danes Worldwide by sending an email to jura@danes.dk.

A. Socialdemokratiet N. Folkebevægelsen mod EU
B. Radikale Venstre O. Dansk Folkeparti
C. Det Konservative Folkeparti V. Venstre, Danmarks Liberale Parti
F. SF – Socialistisk Folkeparti Ø. Enhedslisten – De Rød-Grønne
I. Liberal Alliance Å. Alternativet
